Categorizing type styles based on character width

Type styles may also be categorized based on character width. There are the following categories:

  • Extra Condensed

    Condensed, Compressed, Narrow

    Roman, Regular

    Expanded, Extended

    Extra Expanded

Even in other languages such as German, the english terms are usually used to refer to different character widths.
