Background of the Bacardi logo

In 1862, the Spaniard Don Facunda Bacardi founded the Bacardi & Ca. Distillery in Santiago de Cuba.

48 years later, the first bottling plant was built in Barcelona. Thereupon, more factories were built in New York, and another distillery in Mexico.

In 1960, following the Cuban Revolution, the family emigrated to the USA, and managed to keep their trademark rights and original yeast strains.

Bacardi is said to be one of the top-selling american spirit brands in the world. Bacardi's Rum and Rum mixed drinks which are produced with special production techniques are sold in about 175 countries.

History of the Bacardi logo:

Don Facunda Bacardi himself had the idea for the bacardi logo in his first distillery.

An innumerable amount of bats lived under the rooftop. In spain, bats are regarded as a lucky charm - this is why up to today, there's a bat on every bottle of Bacardi Rum.
