When designing wordmarks, but also character- or letter marks, make sure that the selected font fits the client, i.e. the company or product.

Bevore you start, find out if there is already a "corporate font". Many of the larger companies already have a font that is specially catered to their needs. If there is one, in most cases you will have to use it, which does make sense.

When you design a logo, especially a wordmark, you should on no account settle for the simple writing of the word. There are a couple of typographic subtleties to keep in mind. The most important aspect is the horizontal spacing (the distance between the individual characters), which you should always pay attention to and adjust.

For more typographic subtleties that you should consider, see chapter Typography.
