The subject of colours is a very extensive topic. I will go further into detail with that subject in a later topic.

The choice of colour is a tender subject in logo design. Sometimes it is better to design a logo in colour, in some cases it may be necessary. However, you should always think one step ahead, or even better: Several steps.

Where will the logo be used? Is a coloured logo necessary? Is it just more beautiful? Are the additional printing costs ok?

If the logo is only used on the Internet, the choice of colour can be disregarded. If it is also intended for use in print media, you should mind the following points:

  • In colour or just grey scales and black, respectively

What printing methods will be used to reproduce the logo?

In colour: Spot colour or process colour?

There should be a grey scales version or a black-and-white version of a colour logo (for faxing etc.)

As mentioned above, there is a separate chapter on this topic. The mentioned problems are also dwelled on there. See chapter COLOURS
