The designed logo should under no circumstance be a copy of other logos. It would remind the viewer of the original logo, and consequently of another product or another company.

However, you may very well use known elements of other logos. They should be combined, modified or abstracted in a different way.

As I've explained in the previous chapter, it does make sense to use branch typical symbols. Still, they should be modified in a way that they are not mistakable for the original logo, i.e. they won't be associated with other products or companies.
