Who is a typical logo designer, or, more importantly: How can I become a good logo designer?

First of all, one has to understand that logo design is not just designing a simple symbol with writing. A logo is much more than just that.

For example, the logo is only the beginning. You need a corporate identity or corporate design which fits your logo, and the two should form a harmonious oneness. A logo also needs to express what the company stands for, it must state its identity and qualities.

Furthermore, there are many refinements to logo design. Small parts of a logo can drasitcally improve its effect, or degrade it.

In the following chapters, I would like to give you an understanding of the fundamental information and topics concerning logo design. However, this logo design guide is by no means sufficient - it's a very extensive subject-matter. To everybody who wants to engage in logo design, I would recommend buying some books about the topic.

To top it all off, and parcitularly to stay informed about the latest trends and market developments, it is advisable to stick with books that point out current logo developments.

I have listed some very good books about the topic under Recommendet reading: Logo design. Now, I hope you have fun on my logo design guide.
