File format *.PSD - Photoshop Document

The PSD file is the standard format used by Adobe Photoshop, a graphics program that is said to be the best and most popular software for agencies, graphic artists, and in pre-press.

PSD uses a bitmap format, optionally with RLE-compression.

Additionally, the contained image data can be supplemented with information on layers, masks, colour modi etc.

Never versions of Photoshop are also able to process and save vector information such as text (as a vector), lines, geometrical shapes etc.
