Designguide.at Logo
The logo of www.designguide.at
Here, I'll give you some information on the logo of www.designguide.at.
The logo consists of a text- and an image part. The name "designguide" is supposed to immediately convey what it's about. In addition to the text, the image part - an "i" in the same font as the text - stands for information, and thus underlines the statement of the text part.
A nice anecdote: In a webmasterforum, i asked for feedback to my site (before it was officially online). To my pleasure, one of the users immediately talked about the "i", which had to stand for information. It showed that my logo was understood.
For the text part, i used the font "Magneto" and made some modifications.
The font was a little under-kerned (-5% em). I've also modified the first and last letters, elongating the "D" on the upper left, and the "e" on the lower right. (See below to find out how much i've elongated them.)
The spacing between image- and text part in the logo was chosen as follows: The last "e" and the dot on the "i" determined the position of the image part. For a better understanding, here's an illustration:
Generally, there are several versions of the logo. There's a colour version, a grayscale version, and a black-and-white version:
The clour version was designed in the CMYK colour space. I renounced spot colours because of the additional costs. The following colours are used in the logo:
After the launch of the he logo, the image part can be used independently - the following versions are possible:
This image part may also be used in modified versions as a "key-visual". Here are a few possible examples:
Parts of the image part are used again and again in various forms of advertising and in other advertising media, in order to foster brand recognition.
Here's an example banner:
Just as well, the image part may be used as an "i" in slogans. Here are a few quick examples:
